The prodigal pied cat

In the midnight moonlit moment She leant against Mr Griffiths's home and whispered to the stone.
We have not seen Nadolig since the first Sunday after Mr Griffiths was taken into the hospital, far away, long ago, and She worried that maybe he had found a new home, a new fire, a new lap. Or maybe the snow was too much and too cold for him.
" Not much longer now. Next week he will come back." We prowled by her side, coats shining with starlight.
" Send word around, through the stones and the rocks, by the birds and the trees. He is coming back. Please, tell Nadolig, wherever he is."

So today, such joy as She looked up from Her washing up (not a thing She usually finds joy in) and there, outside the window, pied and beautiful against the emerald green of the ivy leaves, Nadolig. Out She rushed with a plate of food, the nearest plate to hand, and for Nadolig a feast fit for a prodigal cat, and for the stones and the rocks, the birds and the leaves a whispered thank you.

From miles away I have thought of that wandering cat! That looks like a great "welcome home" meal.
You have made Mr. Griffiths and his cat a part of our everyday thoughts.

How wonderful! This news brought a smile to my heart!

And now there's a cat-portrait of Nadolig as well! Can it be he knows that Mr Griffiths is nearly home?

God bless! Nadolig got the message that Mr Griffiths is coming home. I hope he and we won't be disappointed, and that indeed Mr Griffiths will soon be home. Looks like Nadolig has picked up some scratches on his nose from a cat trying to keep him away from his food bowl...but he seems to have survived the winter well so far!

Thank you for what turned out (for me) to be an emotional update. Joy to all!

Hooray! We are glad to hear that Nadolig has come back safely. He looks fit, though a bit wary in the eyes, as most wild things are. Thank you for whispering him back!

Thanks cat you're back Nadolig!

Somehow I knew Nadolig would know when to return. How do cats know this stuff? Must be some kind of sixth sense ... hurrah that he's back though!

What a wonderfl fairy tale! Welcome back Nadolig!

After a grim week at work, that is the best news! You must tell Nadolig to stick around, and very soon he will have a familiar lap to purr on, and his own fireside to snooze by. Be kind to him, ginger cats!

My grandmother once had a cat that whenever she left the house for several days, he would, too! Her neighbors always knew when my grandmother was returning, because the cat would return the same day, a few hours before she did. How do they know?? Love your posts. :)

That landscape telegraph is even better than email! Good to see Nadolig heard the message and came back. Looks like he has been having adventures that will remain a mystery like those of Macavity.

He is a very handsome cat. Not a ginger but still, a very handsome cat indeed!

I am so happy Nadolig is back. Was he thin or had he been fed by others. The photo shows a very healthy coat and bright eyes so I am assuming he either fended quite well for himself or some other kind people fed him also. You live in a magical and really unique place.Thank you for sharing.

This such wonderful news - I have thinking of Nadolig ever since this whole eposide of Mr. Griffiths hospitalization has begun. This re-appearance of Nagolig makes feel very good and hopeful that all is going to work out just fine. Spring will come and Mr. Griffiths with Nadolig sitting his lap will be sitting by the door of his cottage and watch it unfold.
