Rosie and Poppy teach snowdrops to fly
She went searching for snowdrops today, but discovered a strange kind of puppy heaven, for in one of the places where the snowdrops lived there also lived Rosie's sister, Poppy.
And a dance of pied beauty and collie chaos ensued.

Rosie's recipes.
Today I got a fan mail letter. So excited.
'' I would love to thank the dog for the recipe for Posh Stick. In writing the recipe she gave me a recipe for Beef and Beer that I have looked for years to find. I babysat for an English lady when I was in high school and she made the most delicious beef dish I had ever tasted. The dogs recipe sounded just like it so I searched out a can of Young's Chocolate Stout and 3 pounds of stewing beef and followed the dogs recipe for Posh Stick and it was the same remarkable meal I had been looking for during the past 40 years. My family came from England in the mid 1800s and I feel as though I belong there instead of here. If you would like to send me a snail mail address that would reach you I would love to send the dog some new Posh Sticks for the coming Christmas. You would of course have to flavor them for her."
So looking forward to Christmas and think maybe I might do some more hints and tips for hungry dogs.
For the recipe, click on the link to 'Rosie's Recipes' at the bottom of this posting.
Now I, Pixie, have a contract for my new book Rosie is thinking of doing a recipe book and seeing if she can get a contract too!

A recipe for Posh Sticks

The manufacture and acquisition of posh sticks is a delicate and dangerous operation involving mind control and serious sneakery.
Posh sticks come in many flavors, tomato sauce, bolognaise, venison stew, but my favorite is beef in beer.
First you have to look into the eyes of the two legs and make them think, "hhmmmm... haven't had beef in beer for a while".
She then gets a pack of diced stewing steak ( made from Kath's Dexter cows that chased me through the field when we went to visit ), some onions, a bottle of chocolate stout and some flour. She fries the meat a little to brown it, takes it out of the pan and puts in chopped onions to brown those and then adds a big spoon of flour and stirs it quick sharp with the posh stick. Then She puts the meat back in the pan, and all the juicey juices and it all looks like mush and I remember how scared I was of that cow, and smile a little smile inside my mouth, all the while watching to see where the stick is. Then She adds the chocolate stout a bit at a time, and lots of stirring happens and that stick just takes up the juices. Then, into the oven with it all for about two hours with pepper and salt and a smile, and I curl up warm by the cooker and keep an eye on the stick which is out of reach and I hope and hope that She won't wash it and the phone will ring and She will go out of the room and I can reach up up up high and flick it with my tongue, and away.
Yum.
Yes, beef in beer. My favorite.
She gets quite cross. I heard Her tell Hannah that She wants ten new wooden spoons for Her birthday. Somehow this is related to me. I know because She gave me a Black Look when She said it. But tomorrow is Hannah's birthday and she will be 15 and last year I was her birthday present, and that makes me very proud.
I hope she still wants me this year.

Rosie's hints and tips on culinary matters.

I am the Rosie and I have lived in the House of Ginger for a whole big year now. No longer a puppy, now I can run with the big dogs. It is a while since I have given the world the wisdom of my culinary tips, so here is a round up of the last years eating.
1. Poo, preferably rabbit or horse, but sheep or cow is ok too.
2. Cameras.
3. Mobile phones
4. Kitchen knives (always good for causing alarm among the two legs!)
5. Builder's sandwiches. Yum.
6. Biscuits.
7. Wooden spoons. The best are the ones used to stir up the beef in beer. Very tasty, like posh sticks.
8.Cake.
9. A good book. ( though you have to be careful. She was none to impressed when I ate the book with one of Her manuscripts in!)
10. Cat food.
11. Horse food.
12. Robin's bacon sandwich that despite being warned many times about my thieving nature he had left in the kitchen right under my nose and what, after all, is a dog to do.
13. Yoghurt pots.
And the best bit of thieving I did in the year? Taking the bacon out of the grill without even burning my nose! Skill!

Rosie Posie learns new skills.
I am the puppy, and I am almost a dog. This week I learnt
1. What a rabbit smells like but not what a rabbit looks like.
2. How to jump over puddles.
3. How to chase birds.
4. That I do not have wings.
5. How to pull four slices of bacon out of the grill, when it is on, and not get my nose burnt.
I did not however, learn how not to get caught doing this and as a result lost out on the two slices remaining.

Nirvana
This week I have been mostly eating...
a packet of tomatoes,
a lettuce, or maybe two,
some poo de sheep
some banana
an envelope
and Buddha's head.
I may have a struggle now to find enlightenment and fear that Nirvana no longer awaits me, but then I am contented here.

Rosie's menu, or red handed.
It has been a while since I have confessed. Now seems like a good time.
Of late I have been mostly eating:
A biro
A notebook in which was written stories by Her ( in the dog house for that one!)
A shoe
or maybe two
A compact disc case
or maybe a few
A wrapper for a chocolate bar
A sweet or maybe more
Some bread
Some biscuits
Dog food
Cat food
Sheep poo
Rabbit poo
A rubber ball
Some paper bags
Hannah's camera (well, a small part of it and just as well it wasn't Her's or I would be skinless now!)
A box
A wooden spoon
A stick
A boot
Some coal
A blue bear
The leg of a chair
The ink cartridge from a computer 9hmmm... tasty!)
A black pen
And a blue pen.
I think it was the blue pen that gave it away.
Caught, blue pawed.
