Things that cats need to learn.

Elmo needs to know that if he sits on the cat food box She can't get the cat food out of the box.
Martha needs to know that ignoring Floss when she stares at her doesn't make her go away.
Kiffer needs to know that if he puts his head under the cat food packet when we are being fed he will get cat food on his head.
Max needs to know that the fire can get very hot.
Maurice just needs to know that we all love him, even when he is grumpy.

( And you all need to know that scratching my door to wake me up at 5 in the morning does not work in the winter when it is dark and weeing outside the door because you are angry because I have not got up to feed you does not make me very happy!)

Oh dear, but one must understand that when a feline needs to go.. then a feline needs to go....
My familiars when their need to eat or wee is essential to them either shadow me, trip me up or sit on my head/face if I am still in sleep mode, but regardless of this we wouldn't be without them would we!! bless them.....

I think you guys are in trouble.

Better act *really* cute and silly today. Take long naps by the fire. NOT on the fire, Max!

Sometimes cats just need to know...I've heard of this cat that every morning stood in front of the fridge begging for food...every morning its 'owner' tried to make it go away...gave up...opened the fridge...the door hit the cat...every morning. The owner thought that the cat thought that this bang on the front of it's head was a part of getting breakfast...and waited for it to happen every morning...this cat just needed to know that the bang WASN'T a part of a breakfast <('-')> Best wishes from Denmark

When Kiffer learns that little lesson please have him explain it to MiMau.

...well quite! Our second cat Locksley used to sit outside my bedroom door and MIAW because he thought I was the softie... I am a softie... but not that soft and especially not at that time of the morning!

All good things to know. The one about Kiffer getting his head under the food made us laugh.

Lots of love to Marice.

Max will learn that the fire is hot... before he burns his feet and has to go visit Kath!
Last winter I sat so very close to the nice warm fire that I had no whiskers on one side of my face. But the stove was lovely, and the world was white and strange outside.
Cheers to Maurice, who looks like me... but I'm older.

The 5am wake up call sounds more than a little familiar. That's the dilemma we have when my Mum's cats come to stay - leave the bedroom door open and have to deal with Fred climbing all over our faces til we get up and feed them, or close the door and have them do something horrific in the flat we're not supposed to have them in.

My Bailey is just too polite. He doesn't jump on the furniture, he doesn't sleep on the bed, he doesn't wake me up to be fed, he has been known to sleep througha meal time if I am at the computer, he doesn't bite and he doesn't scratch -- all of which might sound idealistic to some pet owners who overwhelmed with their cat's needs. But the other side of the coin is that he sleeps all day, I have no idea what he does at night, he doesn't like to be picked up but will tolerate it for a few moments but complains. He always sits just out of reach and he doesn't play, even when I try to play with him. The only thing he really likes is to be brushed and then he purrs up a storm. But one day I sat on the floor to brush him, now he tries his best to coax me down to his level by running away if I try to pick him up and coming to sit by me when I'm on the floor. I wonder who is training whom. But the vet says he is extremely bonded with me and so gets upset when I leave the house. I've had five cats before this one, and he is a mystery to me. I still love him -- just wish he liked cuddles.

Oh, but they never do learn those lessons, do they? I'm very familiar with wiping wet cat food off a cat's little head...

Yes, but weeing is performance art to a cat.. so good luck with that bit.

I have a 'cat food on the head' cat too! Some cats never learn!

Cats, for such intelligent creatures, can be awfully slow "learners". Or--it may be that they are what my teacher/daughter refers to in students as "oppositionally defiant." Just a euphamism for "want their own way---NOW!"

lots of lessons to be had there then! Oh dear, oh dear! The weeing thing is very naughty! xxx

All exceptionally good lessons to learn! Thankfully we are allowed into the bedroon and get to sleep with Meowmy, so there's no need to scratch at the door. And there's always dry food for us to nibble on (we don't have to compete with any canines). Of course sometimes we just want to be fed rather than feeding ourselves, so then we do things like "playing" with the phone cord right by her head or playing thundering herd of elephants across the bed...

My kitty leaves "brown memos" when I don't keep to his schedule. I receive one per day- and always right in front of his litter box. Guess that is a punctuation mark.

Kitty doesn't understand about working late.
