Watching the seals.

The seals have gathered now and we walk over the hill every day to watch them on the stone beach. Great grey seals rest on the pebbles and more swim and hang in the water just off shore. There are pups too. We can hear them call, and the sound makes the hair rise on the back of our necks.

The seals are all colours, dappled like sunlight and shadow on a pebble beach. As they dry their fur changes colour. Their eyes are large, their whiskers long.

The pups were only born yesterday, one this morning. Their heads are large and their fur does not fit them, but hangs a little loose like a too big coat.

They would seem like a good not of my species friend.

Awwwww! I hope the weather has been good enough for you and your pusscats to carry on walking!

Never noticed what awesome camouflage those seals have. They could be large cobbles themselves, the pups pieces of rounded white marble. It just shows how long they must have been coming back to these same stony shores.

By the same token, the Ginger Darlings must have evolved on a beach of pure copper, in a land of perpetual autum, next to the Jaffa Cake factory.

Wow, beautiful seal pictures (though not as beautiful as cats, obviously!). But oh my, that cliff edge looks precipitous! Please take care...

How long do the seals stay there?
