Oh my goodness, that photo just took my breath away! If only my cat would do that!! But he's Siamese and a bit stand-offish. I have to feel honored when he jumps up on my knee and insists on lying back towards me, face front. I tell everyone he does that because I am his property and he has to guard me from what ever may be coming.
Indeed it is Her, the food Goddess. We always think She looks better in black and white or sepia. She seats too much and paints too much. But Maurice does like to cuddle Her. He gets in close and puts his paws around Her neck and rubs his face on Her chin. Then at the moment he sneezes, and She pulls a face. And he jumps from the ground into her arms, sometimes forgetting to let Her know that he is coming! He does not do this with anyone else. Years ago She would have been persecuted for witchcraft because they are so close. Anyway, his head is so very full of snot and germs it is too heavy for him to hold up on his own!
What a lovely picture! And don't you just love the way their fur smells, something like washing hung on the line in the sun, and in the winter, a wee bit of smoke smell from the fire. I bury my nose in the fur of the cats who like to be held like this (and then i am the one who sneezes because i end up with cat fur up my nose!). Continued wishes for complete and quick recoveries for Max and Maurice...and Pixie, too!
When first we started there were four of us, all ginger, and Max. Time has passed. The ginger pride are ghost cats, appart from Elmo. Now the house holds Max, oldest, tabby farm cat, dark, usually found sleeping on a cushion, Elmo, last of the Gingers, beautiful handsome and wonderful who still walks to the high hill top. And now there is Baggage and Bundle, silver mischief in sharp clawed kitten form. The adventures continue.

What a thing is cat love... and how good of you to have comfortable shoulders!

Maurice's head is very full of cat wisdom, hence the mighty weight. It could be this expanding wisdom that is pushing out the sneezes.
Hope Max is still improving.
It's good to finally meet Her.
