Borrowed words.

Things that are wild.
The west wind. Waves at sea. Flames. Distant stars, so many. The bone white moon. Hawk flight. Firelight in a cat's eyes.

Things that are tame.
Being inside, listening to the wind outside. A still shore. Rainsong on a roof. The smell of baking bread. Firelight in a cat's eye.

  1. These are rich images, scenes to conjure--a comfort to read and make word-pictures when I am tired. I'm glad the house is warm while night is wild outside.

  2. Lovely words...borrowed from whom? That the "firelight in a cat's eye" is in both lists says it all.

  3. It is the structure that is borrowed, from Sei Shonegon, a Japanese woman who lived one thousand years ago whose words still whisper beauty and grace across a century. She has more beauty in her smallest finger than anyone who writes for television these days.
Books still hold the sway over screen, and despite ebooks and kindle and any other form of technology, including blogging, they rule supreme. You only have to go to a shelf and open one to access the information held within.
