Beautiful.

Maurice: We wait, curled in warm places in Glyn's barns or his kitchen, until the men with hammers and drills have gone. In the evenings there is a fire now. Everything in the house is different.
Today we walked a little way, but something steals my breath. I cannot go far from home and She seems sad because of this. I look at the sky, the birds, secret ways through bushes of thorns. I listen to windsong and birdsong. I feel autumn sun and leaf fall. I smell damp air, crisp leaf and I can hear a falling leaf rustle, a bird wing flit, a moth breathe. I am a cat.

  2. A beautiful cat--whose plight is breaking our hearts even though we have never walked with him or stroked his ginger fur and heard him purr.
My beloved Oscar-cat was still so much himself in personality during the last weeks of his life. He too, had a cancerous tumor. I held him, dripped tears into his fur, wanted him to know that if there was any way to help or cure him that I would do it. I hope that somehow he knew that, sensed how dear he was.

  10. You are lucky to have Glyn's warm kitchen when the hammer men drive you away.
And She is lucky to have Glyn nearby. He understands these things.

  19. Maurice.. your blog has moved me to tears. Sad that you are still feeling breathless. Amazed by how evocative your words are. My ginger darling is away right now, doing all the things you speak about. Warm thought are sent to you and Her.

  20. There is a prayer flag which flies from a ficus in Southern California for you, Maurice. My own ginger has put his paw of approval on it and it dances in the wind of a blustery fall day. Easy breathing,my friend. And pace yourself. You are a treasure.
