The house under water.

By day the house is all bang clatter crash and crumble. On the roof there are men. In the night it rained so much and the rain came in, drip drip drip, through the ceiling. Now the house is wrapped in blue and though it rains the water stays outside. Inside the light is dark and blue and when it rains you can hear the water dance. Even when the sun shines it feels and sounds as if the house is a drowned house from an old Welsh tale of lost villages, of drowned lands, where fish swim through blind windows and bells toll slow in the tide. The wind blows through the blue, rattling it and rolling over to make it sound like water.
By day we curl in corners, or watch from hidden places until the men are all gone. Then we spill from our hiding and prowl the underwater house. And we look forward to when the house is finished and all is peace again.

Pixie still sneezes, and all the dust thrown up by the building work does little to help her. She clings tight when you hold her, so small a cat, so lovely.

  1. I hope your roof gets done fast. I need to get a bit of repair done on mine and I dread what my four purrballs will do. Hide under the bed I assume.

When it rains, we get a bit of the drips coming from the two sky lights.

    Old houses ...

Hope your kitty gets better ..

  2. The dust and debris of building or renovating is a messy stuff to deal with--humans become ill from it as well.
Pixie is such a dear, fragile cat--I send her anxious and loving thoughts.

  5. Your words convey the image as much as the photos do. How lovely, it is very catlike to find what is interesting and beautiful in even a messy situation. I look forward to your posts.

  6. Thoughts and blessings that the Lady of the Universe will surround little Pixie and all the cats and dogs with protective light throughout this stressful time for them, and for their humans ...

Remodeling is such a horrible process - truly trying and stressful and one tends to forget how good it will all be when the project is finished and looking beautiful.

Courage, soldier on, and all that other rot - your friends from around the world send loving thoughts.

  7. Very alarming times for the cats (and you, too).
I spoke with our vet on the phone today (a holiday) to tell her that one of our cats, Pyewacket, is sneezing. She is current on her shots and will go for a check up on Monday; it's probably an upper respiratory thing that I hope the rest of them don't get.

So we are all thinking really healthy feline thoughts around our house and have special ones to spare and send to Pixie.
