Looking for summer

Once again we woke to a world wrapped in cloud so we walked to the top of the hill to look for summer.

The light was flattened, but patches of heather glowed purple and in the distance the sea met the sky with a soft line of gray, a smudge.

Summer was hiding. We looked through the brambles, but the sun wasn't there.

We looked in the gorse. Not here either.

Later the sun came briefly from behind clouds and the air was warm. Now it is night and the clouds have fallen from the sky. The old moon is a whisker and the world drips with water, not rain, just cloud fallen to earth.

  1. Well if you can't find the summer, there's not a lot of hope. At least Rosie did her best to help. All that cloud isn't helping tho'. Perhaps you have to ask the wind cat to look above the clouds.

  4. Gorse is a very spiky plant with green thorns and yellow flowers. It smells a little like coconut and the flowers are of the deepest golden yellow. In spring the cliffs here are gold with gorse flower and the scent is heavenly but they say that kisses are only in season when the gorse is in flower. All year round, somewhere on the cliffs, you will find a gorse bush with flowers glowing bright.wahes
