When
When there is only starlight falling on the world , and the only sound is the running water from the spring that rises in the lane, and there is no breeze, and the peewits sleep peacefully undisturbed by hunting foxes, it seems that there is such a peace in the darkland of night.
or the haunting horns of far-off trains, the hoot of the night-owl's hunting and little snores from the kitty side of the bed! Thanks for the lovely poetry and pictures; your blog is a joyful place to visit!
I like the new banner too. How can you miss with a subject like that? I nominated you for another award awhile back. I don't know if you accept them or not. If you do not wish to accept, that is ok with me, but I do want you to know how much I appriciate your blog. The photos are lovely and the words just right. I always leave your blog in a good mood. I received a kreativ blogger award from Jeanne Klaver and I would like to pass it on to you. If you choose to accept it, details are on my blog. Thanks for sharing your part of the world with the rest of us. Kat
A peewit is a coloquial name for the lapwing. It is the sound the bird makes, sometimes. Black and white with beautiful almost peacock green feathers, and a crest, they are winter visitors to Britain, though they next here in spring and perform wonderful acrobatic mating flights.
When first we started there were four of us, all ginger, and Max. Time has passed. The ginger pride are ghost cats, appart from Elmo. Now the house holds Max, oldest, tabby farm cat, dark, usually found sleeping on a cushion, Elmo, last of the Gingers, beautiful handsome and wonderful who still walks to the high hill top. And now there is Baggage and Bundle, silver mischief in sharp clawed kitten form. The adventures continue.

New banner? It's a lovely blue for night time dreaming. We are sunshine snoozing!
Beautiful! What I would give to live like your cats! Free to roam but loved ant petted...
And in such a peace, we can sleep unhindered by nightmares and under-the-bed monsters.
Sleep well, kitties,
Cindee
lovely description, wish I was there...
I love your new banner photo. It would make a wonderful frieze for something -- a whole long strip of cat silhouettes.
