Pixie, darling Pixie

Over the last few weeks Pixie has been poorly, sneezing and wheezing and snoring and snuffling, finding breathing difficult. Always up for a walk, but in other ways a sad and sorry cat, finding it difficult to clean herself as she has been so stuffed up with cold. The vet has been very worried as she did not respond to anti-biotics. Not wishing to worry anyone we kept quiet and kept Pixie close and cuddled her.
It would seem that now she is rallying. Today she curled tight in a patch of sunshine, sleeping, dreaming and being ginger.
Beautiful, gentle ginger darling.

I think Pixie is going to be OK. She is responding well to these new anti-bios and her breathing is much better. Didn't want to post about it before as it seems we have had so many nail biting worries, with the cats having flu then Glyn being ill and Nadolig missing. All so far has ended well and I didn't want people to start worrying about poor Pixie. Your support through all of these things has been so very welcome and heart warming. I thank you.
Pixie is such a little darling.

I'm sending get well wishes to Pixie. Sleeping in the sun is always a good tonic.

I think she slept for so long today because she could. She has been so stuffed up her breathing has been waking me at night, so she was tired. Now her breathing is better, three more days of pills then the vet wants to see her again.
She has been eating ok all the time, and have been cosseting and cuddling her.
As I write she is sitting on the back of the red sofa in a warm lounge.

I had that feeling of a physical blow when I read the header about Pixie. It is heart breaking when a loved pet is ill and we can't seem to help them. We have our frail one--Raisin--who doesn't keep her food down well and is looking thin and fragile. We would do most anything for these creatures. Sometimes I think that just holding them and encouraging them is good for the ailing one--and for me. I so hope that Pixie will continue to improve--she is a dear little cat.

We are sorry to hear that Pixie is under the weather but happy she is showing signs of improvement! We lost our piece of the ginger world a few weeks ago, we wish that it remain bright everywhere else.

Poor dear Pixie! Jackie, i know you didn't want to worry us because there has been so much else that we've been worrying about, but we would have been glad to share your burden of concern about Pixie. I'm so glad she's responding to her new medicine and finally able to sleep with easier breathing.

Is it possible Pixie has an allergy? I ask because a friend had a cat who was frequently ill with what seemed to be colds (and, sometimes, psychosis) but it turned out he was allergic to corn. And corn, of course, is a primary ingredient in a lot of commercial foods and feeds.

It sounds like you vet is on top of things, but I thought I'd mention it.

Oh sorry to be late with my well wishes; a lurker here to bestow good tidings for beloved Miss Pix.

The best cats I ever had were my twin ginger girls 'Ginger & Taffy'. It is lovely to read your blog & see your beautiful gingers. Thank you.
