Telling tales, of walking in wild places, of painting, of sleeping in warm places and of mice and other things....

Woman are such fickle things.
Cats do not get jealous....or sulk. I just want to know who is sending her flowers. And why? And what, at the end of the day, is wrong with a nice bunch of mice. She never seems so pleased when I bring Her mice.
I agree, any gift is special. Yesterday my cat Smokey left me a moth nigh-on half as big as herself. Seriously, though I feel safe to hazard that it was of the order of lepidoptera, I would hesitate to guess at its species, its shoe size, nor from what primordial forest it may have issued. I kid you not, it looked like a sugared date with the wings of a sparrow. I think Smokey must have used a shotgun.
I empathize with you on the mouse business. This week I presented the PM with a stunning vole/ deer mouse arrangement on the front walk but only got a dirty look in return.
Does someone (we know who) prefer gifts of flowers to gifts of mice? I agree with someone, although the thought from the dear cat is sweet. It can be seen as a tribute to find a mouse corpse upon doorstep or pillow.
When first we started there were four of us, all ginger, and Max. Time has passed. The ginger pride are ghost cats, appart from Elmo. Now the house holds Max, oldest, tabby farm cat, dark, usually found sleeping on a cushion, Elmo, last of the Gingers, beautiful handsome and wonderful who still walks to the high hill top. And now there is Baggage and Bundle, silver mischief in sharp clawed kitten form. The adventures continue.
