The wind fell away in the early afternoon. Clouds cleared to blue sky and we un-peeled from corners and cushions. She is frustrated as something called facebook will not let Her comment or post. But we are happy because She is home (though we wish that She would stop making smells with things She paints on wood).
The night is dark. It is a blessing that it is not yet cold. We wait with less patience each day for the fire to be lit. Soon, it must be soon.
And Maurice breathes heavily even when resting. This is not good.
Soon all the building work will be done, the fire will be lit and the moon will come back. Soon it will be cold outside and She will settle to rest and to paint. Soon all will be well. But not yet.
Beneath the tree we wait to catch an autumn leaf. Each leaf that falls will touch the ground but if we can catch a falling leaf or two we can make a wish, or two. Tonight we need a wish, or two.
I will also make a wish or two for you.

My daughter caught an oak leaf in her hair as she came home today- it was the same color as her hair and she saw it from the corner of her eye. She thought that it was a crow flying by. I pulled it from her hair and made a wish for Maurice.
ReplyDeleteGood wishes are being sent your way Maurice...we don't need to send wishes for you to be happy you are that already.. just wishes that you feel well and live as long as a happy cat can
ReplyDeleteNot sounding good about Maurice and I know the sadness of watching a loved cat wasting away from cancer. My dear Oscar purred and snuggled even on his final journey to the vet. I knew I had waited til the last moment to give him that last kindness, but oh, so difficult.may he be warm enough and with yu for as long as possible.
ReplyDeleteDinah knows that folk tale about wishing on leaves. Today is very windy so we will catch some flying leaves and add our wishes.
ReplyDeleteThe Orion meteor shower is supposed to be tonight and with your wonderful dark skies, you should be able to see it, and see a shooting star to wish on. Failing that, i will wish on the falling leaves as well, hoping against hope that Maurice's breathing will improve.
ReplyDeleteI hope that Maurice is comfortable. Kiss Kiss Meow Meow Maurice.
ReplyDeleteOh, Maurice. I wish for all of your days to be comfortable, sweet and filled with the things that make you happy. And I wish for you all to have peace in your dear hearts.
ReplyDeleteMy wishes go to Maurice.
ReplyDeleteSending you and Maurice easy breaths filled with love.
ReplyDeleteMy cats and I will catch some leaves for you all. x
ReplyDeleteA wish I don't have, but how about a blessing of sorts?
ReplyDeleteI call upon the power of three,
On Earth and Air and Sea,
Fill the Precious Firecats
With warmth and strength
Let them be free as bats
And on a warm floor their lengths
Measure out in sleep and purring.
This I ask of the powers three,
So among all things, so let it be.
Hope Maurice improves and doesn't have a cold on top of everything.
We all are thinking of you Maurice and send purrs ...know you are loved by the two legs and they want you around for a long time ...so fight .

My wish is for Maurice to have a perfect night of sleep and to wake up with readiness for the good changes to come (the work inside done, the fire lit).
ReplyDeleteWillow sends her prayers. She had a bad dream and woke me up crying yesterday morning. As she was curled next to me, her head on my/our pillow, I spoke gently to wake her. When she opened her eyes and realized she was safe in my arms she sighed and pulled my hand closer to her chest with her front paws. Then she went back to sleep, the kind of good sleep she hopes for Maurice (and all the others too, of course!).
Rumbling purrs sent out to dear Maurice.

perhaps when the dust from the builders settles, maurice will find the breathing easier. i know that i would--i wouldn't be able to live in the house until the work was done & cleaned up.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post. We finally got our first ginger cat recently. He is a trip! The sweetest, most tolerant kitten I've ever had.
ReplyDeleteAll hail the ginger cat!
Love you Maurice, send you all the good wind of Brittany to help you breathe correctly.
