I have pushed the cats off the keyboard and they are doing a celebratory can-can around the room in all ginger style. Just back from the hospital where Glyn is back to his old self again, and though he did not recognize me and I had to introduce myself he was then so pleased to see me. Seems to think I am looking younger and that is why he did not know me.
he was calm and sure of his place in the world again and hoping to come out on Monday and be back home, and after we had got into a muddle thinking it was Friday today ( I do not know what day of the week it is at the best of times and we were put right by one of the other visitors) we got to talking of home and cats and places and people. I told him as best I could of all the cats around the world wishing him well again, and all the kind words from people he has never met and will never know and he was so touched.
It is to be hoped that whatever caused his confusion has passed for now and that he will go from strength to strength. Meanwhile he has his book and a copy of Classic Poems and he walked me to the door of his ward and gave me the biggest of hugs.
Tonight when we walk past I will tell the house to keep hoping and soon, soon, he will be back.
I am so pleased!
ReplyDeleteI am very glad too

It is the seemingly small things that mean so much, like asking the doctors to take his Welshness into account.

ReplyDeleteYour reports of Mr. Griffiths have made so many of us wish that we could be his neighbor. I hope that Nadolig will somehow know when to come back home--cats are essential company. Perhaps the gingers can somehow send word.....
ReplyDeleteEven the red squirrel (who lives in our yard and often entertains us) is sending good wishes for Mr. Griffiths. There's a special post for Mr. G over at our Furry and Feathered Friends blog.

After watching Terry Pratchett on TV this evening and hearing some sad news about someone from my sister, I was feeling abit down.
ReplyDeleteThe good news about your neighbour has lifted my heart.:)
All the cats in my home in Virginia (two yellow tabbies, a siamese tabby, a brown tabby, a tortie point siamese, and a tuxedo) wish him the best to be home soon. They and the bunnies have been concentrating very hard on his recovery. We're so glad he's feeling better!

ReplyDeleteI do hope he will be home soon with care attached. Even a health visitor at the least.
That really is fantastic news!

ReplyDeleteNora & the Carolina Cats
Hooray! Good news indeed. I have been thinking that a possible source of his 'confusion' may be due to his isolation and lack of enough stimulation, as well possible lack of nutriton. I am speaking from experience with my own 87 year-old father over the past several years. They don't always eat properly and tend to isolate a bit (not always on purpose either). Maybe your town can rally to the old gent's aid and have voluteers come to visit on a more regular basis to talk with him, check in on him, and be sure he has enough heat and food to eat--maybe take him soup or some such! Just some thoughts...
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad, this is what we were hoping for :D Does he know how many of us wish him well? :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the good news!
ReplyDeleteWe are so happy Mr. Griffiths is feeling better. We have been anxiously awaiting news while we were away.
ReplyDeleteWe will think of him and sing tonight, cats and people alike.
This is such wonderful news! I do hope Mr Griffith's home will be warm for him on his return - empty houses have a habit of becoming very cold.
ReplyDeleteI hope Mr Griffiths get better and can come home again. Yes, there are lots of good cats (like me) wishing him well.
