Sad house crying in the rain

Mr Griffiths, who has measured out his life in cats, who lives in the house next door, whose long days span almost a century, went into hospital yesterday. He was very ill, but as he was cared for and warmed through and as he ate he has rallied and is now much stronger again already. A few days in hospital should set him right again.
In the meantime his house is sad and we miss him.

  5. Dear Mr. Griffiths. May he recover soon, and come back to a warm house with food to eat. Earlier this week (or was it last week) when you posted the picture of his house, with one window that appeared to be lit only by a candle in the wee hours of the morning, i started to worry about him.

  6. The house does look sad in the rain--a bit crookedy and ancient. Perhaps that is how Mr. Griffiths is feeling. I found a picture where the house looks more comfortable in the sunshine, and even in rain the blue door and windows are brave. The green plants along the path look encouraging.

  8. Oh, I so hope Mr. Griffiths will be OK - I love his house more than any I have ever seen, it's completely beautiful and says more than any house I have ever seen....I fell in love with it when I first saw it on your blog, which was years ago.... It's a real, proper house, without gravel chips and fancy-nancy Homebase instant gardening stuff. Get Well Soon, Mr Griffiths xxxxxx

  10. We do so hope Mr Griffiths feels much better soon. Winter is quite hard on you, when you are elderly.

I love that he "has measured out his life in cats" - he must be a very nice man indeed.

We do hope his house is warm and comfy for him when he returns.

  11. Glad to hear he's rallying and doing well. Hopefully he'll soon be home again with the cats to visit him and keep him company.

A house usually looks sad in the rain, but without it's inhabitants, it looks a lot lonelier. After a while, a house is not just a building but part of the people who live there and they become a part of it. Hope Mr Griffiths and his home are soon happier.
