I was curled tight and small when she put on her shoes and called the dogs to walk but I unfurled and stretched and together we walked to the sea.
A steady swell rose and fell and the sea sang as the sun slanted onto ginger, evening sun, still warm, and the sound of the sea an evening song as it sucked and pulled at the shore below.
The tight balled flowers of meadowsweet echoed the salt sea spray, the young flowers still holding tight to their honey perfume.
For a while we sat to watch the birds fly as far out to sea a river of shearwaters flew low over the sea.
What a wonderful walk you took!
ReplyDeleteGosh. What gorgeous pictures and how evocative; the narrow path bordered by heather and thyme makes me want to be there. Lovely...
ReplyDeleteMe too! Do you hab feesh een that sea??

ReplyDeleteYou sweet cats!! Many blogs have come and gone on my pc - but yours...has been there for a year or more...and it has come to stay! Pleeeease, say hi to Her and tell Her I love, love, love her blog just as much! I wish I could draw like Her...and write so poetic - She makes sunshine on a grey day! Gingers, please tell her that!!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your beautiful blue sky!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I wish my walks were as beautiful as yours!
ReplyDeleteKitty, you are so cute furled up in a ball.
ReplyDeleteOh my. I just love visiting here.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for dropping by my blog - you are totally right of course! I usually ignore the silly creatures but that day it just got my goat.
ReplyDeleteOh oh oh for ginger cats! the love of my life was a ginger tom, given to me on a bus en route to sign off after leaving college (he was being taken to be put down!!). THE most beautiful cat in the entire world with long silky hair (think he had some Persian in him) but a sharp dear face. He used to hang round my shoulders and go everywhere with me (even happily watching people on the Tube in London). While we were staying with my parents in Sussex, he vanished one day - never to be found. broke my heart.
Have had cats since but none so fine. Have loved looking at yours but have a tear in my eye, yup even after 25 years!

Being catless since 1997 and loving the innate essence of catness, that wonderful image of the 360 degree wraparound snooze reminds me why I love cats so much. You live in such a beautiful part of Britain too.
ReplyDeleteWhat wonder to have a cat live with you and to be the cat's people. Of course, it's not the same with dogs - you own a dog, but nobody owns a cat. They just live with you... if you're lucky.
They love you if you love them, but they are always their own... the cat that walked by himself and all places alike to him.
Thank you so much for sharing these lovely cats pictures and adventures with us.
Your landscape reminds me so much of walks along the heathercovered hogsback cliffs of my home in North Devon... I'm feeling so homesick! You are lucky lucky cats to have sush freedom.
ReplyDeleteWhat an intoxicating landscape!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat would be a lovely place to go walking.
