We must confess

The man who lives next door likes cats. In his life he has had many cats and it is the ghosts of these cats who lead the song to the moon at night. Once he was a young man and he traveled the world. Now he is old and lives alone with a black and white cat called Ndolig.
Each day one of us visits him. Each day he puts food for us. He cannot see very well now that he is old, and he forgets things easily. Sometimes we will take it in turn to visit on the same day and each time he will feed us. Because he is forgetful he thinks we are one cat. Sometimes we queue up outside his house, and as one cat comes out another goes in.
Now She has told him that we are three. But tomorrow he will forget again.

  1. You are very nice to visit the next-door-man. I think he pretends not to know there are three of you as a little joke because he likes to have fun.

  2. Sorry Daisy, We are evil. He has short term memory problems and we are taking advantage. So even though I introduced him to all four ginger cats the other day he will forget tomorrow. And yet he can remember the name of all the cats from his long life, who are all buried under a twisted apple tree in his back garden. And he remembers Arthur too.

  4. And you know for sure that he is not playing a trick on you and pretending that he can't remember so he can have your company?

  5. Hi Jac
Love the Ginger cats--and this white house. And the tales. Where you live looks like heaven (for people and cats)!

  6. I think it's your cat-duty to visit him... all of you. It's good for both the man and Ndolig to have visitors, even if they think it is only one visitor...
