Eighteen years ago She had a big white cat, the legendary Comfrey, who walked and walked the hills with Her.
When he died, in mysterious circumstances, Arthur and Martha came to live here.
They were all so young, and some of us weren't even born!
Telling tales, of walking in wild places, of painting, of sleeping in warm places and of mice and other things....

So were Arthur and Martha the start of the House of Ginger?
Thank you for posting these older photos.
Looking back is bitter-sweet.
Indeed they were, John, the foundation stones of the House of Ginger. She had always wanted a ginger cat ever since seeing one in a picture book when She was a child. So when She realised that Comfrey was gone ( he had been away for a whole week in awful weather. She now thinks he was caught in a snare one of the farmers had set for foxes or rabbits, because of the odd thing that was said, here and there) She saw a notice to say 'Free to a Good Home. Ginger kittens'. Arthur and Martha.
What fun to see the beginning of the House of Ginger. These are very poignant photos. I had a precious white cat named Cirrus who was my love for 15 years, and we now have a white cat, Feather, who is 11. And today is my beloved Willow's second birthday...we have been cuddling all the day long. ^!^
So little, kittens and kids too. Wonderful that there are cameras to freeze snippets of time.
Sorry about Comfrey. Our Rusty also simply disappeared one rainy night. Our belief is that a coyote that had moved into our suburb, took him, because we found tufts of fur.
How long did you have Arthur?
HeeHee! They think they find us. But we know it's us who find them. Love the baby pictures.
rubs,
Jaks.
Aww would you look at them they are so tiny! And Comfrey - what a gorgeous cat!
How sweet the children look! As for the kittens... the beginning of a tail/tale of the House of Radiant Ginger!
The ginger cat in a book wasn't a certain Marmalade cat by any chance... with a wife called Grace?!
I loved those as a child.
Comfrey is such a great name for a cat. I will add it to the list along with Strangeways and Mydinner...
Thanks for sharing this with us, Jsckie - lovely. Comfrey looks amazing!!
Oh my goodness. Nothing cuter!
Oh! They are so beautiful! The wee little ones. How fleeting is time. How short our time on Earth. How bittersweet the memories.
Oh such cuties!

Oh my! My Angus has similar markings to Confrey! Though Angus is not a big cat. He is definitely the cutest, sweetest, and most entertaining cat I've ever had. They've all been special, but Angus is a treasure.
Thanks for sharing the kitten photos and a glimpse into the origins of the House of Ginger.
Oh, this is wonderful Jackie. I love the idea of showing the cats we grew up with. Or the cats who grew us up...legendary cats.

How tiny the kittens are in that last photo which shows the early House of Ginger.
